Summary

The show was so so so good。 I read this in hope that it would meet up to it and it didn’t。 Ughhhh。 Idk something about Conrad I love too much but he also wasn’t the same Conrad from the show and I like show Conrad better。 I love show Jeremiah in the last episode and I’m the first few。 Just not with belly。 And even book Jeremiah is cute。 But nobody really drew me in in the book like Conrad did in the show。

i literally finished it in a day。 such good vibes but it’s just kinda slow burn there’s not really a plot but overall pretty good

Sorry but belly is so annoying。 Also pick one person to be in love with? Also what was the ending I’m confused but not? Still good but omfg belly needed to stop sticking her tongue out and throwing temper tantrums

★ 1。5 STARS ★The writing was just too young for me。 There was zero character development。 For one, Belly complained the entire time about not wanting to be treated like a child but then continued to act like one and her love interest, Conrad, maybe said two words the entire book then moped around the rest of the time。 The reason for his moping (which was super obvious/predictable) was understandable and maybe would've endeared me to him more if he had had some moments of vulnerability to show he ★ 1。5 STARS ★The writing was just too young for me。 There was zero character development。 For one, Belly complained the entire time about not wanting to be treated like a child but then continued to act like one and her love interest, Conrad, maybe said two words the entire book then moped around the rest of the time。 The reason for his moping (which was super obvious/predictable) was understandable and maybe would've endeared me to him more if he had had some moments of vulnerability to show he still cared and was just failing to cope。 That would've made him more relatable。 Instead it left me scratching my head wondering what there was to like about him。 The story overall just lacked structure。 It read more like a kid's journal entry that meandered all over the place with no clear beginning, middle, or end。 I'll be interested to see how the series compares because I liked the TV adaptation of To All The Boys I've Loved Before more than I liked the book。 。。。more

4/5 i really loved the summery, kidish growing up vibe of this book。 it reminded me so much of summers as a kid, and that made me so nostalgically happy。 there were a few aspects of this book i'm iffy about。 but overall, i really loved this。 it reminded me so much of my childhood a lot of happy memories i had 🥲let me start with some positive things that i enjoyed about this book because i really enjoyed this but if i start with the things i found iffy it'll seem like i hated the whole book (WHIC 4/5 i really loved the summery, kidish growing up vibe of this book。 it reminded me so much of summers as a kid, and that made me so nostalgically happy。 there were a few aspects of this book i'm iffy about。 but overall, i really loved this。 it reminded me so much of my childhood a lot of happy memories i had 🥲let me start with some positive things that i enjoyed about this book because i really enjoyed this but if i start with the things i found iffy it'll seem like i hated the whole book (WHICH IS NOT THE CASE! IM READING THE REST!) i loved the friendships of this book, and how they truly are attached to eachother。 even if some of them grew up to be dickwadsCONRAD they still really love eachother and i adore that🥲 you can tell this is a jenny han book。 decent love interests, some seriously in denial mcs, and the cute family relations and growing journeys :) i adored and i can't wait to read the rest of this series。 i am extremely curious as to where this is going。 this was also extremely easy to read for me, and i kind of have the attention span of a dead clam so that's awesome! now for some of the iffy things about this book。。 the first being the love triangle if you don't already know i HATE love triangles, this one wasn't baaaaad。。。。。 but i just don't like love triangles because nine times out of ten the mc chooses the boy i don't want。 so! another thing that i didn't really。 like about this book was some of the few very。。。。 very Strange comments🧍🏽‍♀️ one of them was actually defended, using the word "gay" as such a negative, almost "wimpy" term。 i did Nottttt like how they "resolved" that。。。 they basically just brushed it off as jeremiah being jealous of taylor???? first of all i didn't see it as that as all。 i just felt like jere was confronting an issue so it didn't get brushed off as "okay" but they brushed it off anyways。 i get that that's pretty small but i just keep thinking about it and wanted to add something about it。another thing i did NOT like was how belly called taylor slutty。。。 first of all whenever someone says that word it more than usually doesn't sit right with me。 same with here。 that didn't sit right with me。 like yeah, i don't like taylor she was a whiny stuck up bitch, but it did not sit right with me that belly called her slutty😭 i talked w someone about that and they found it weird too, but again that might just be my opinion。the story is actually really good。 i really love it, and i'm excited to read the next two books。 even more excited to see these hot mfs in the show😩😩😩😩 i did really like this!! it was short, cute and summery。 i liked it🙇🏽‍♀️ 。。。more

Finished June 18: “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, rating- 2。5/5, ok this book was a super fast read i finished it in 2 days (but that may have just been because I was bored and didn’t want to do anything else), honestly it’s just another teen romance novel but it wasn’t written very well。 i didnt really like belly, the main character, she is very childish, and i feel like it was trying to be a slow burn romance but it didn’t really work and the romance was kinda nonexistent so the plot didn’t work Finished June 18: “The Summer I Turned Pretty”, rating- 2。5/5, ok this book was a super fast read i finished it in 2 days (but that may have just been because I was bored and didn’t want to do anything else), honestly it’s just another teen romance novel but it wasn’t written very well。 i didnt really like belly, the main character, she is very childish, and i feel like it was trying to be a slow burn romance but it didn’t really work and the romance was kinda nonexistent so the plot didn’t work that well, but i just read it because their is a screen adaptation out and i wanted to read it before I watch, don’t know if I’m going to read the next 2 books of the series or not we will see 。。。more

i thought i wouldn’t like it since it’s a teen romance, but it wasn’t that bad。 the girl main character does get a little annoying and hypocritical at times。 it’s a fun and easy summer read。 my heart still belongs to cam though, he did nothing wrong。 3 jeremiah, i <3 him。 conrad, he’s the broken hot guy everyone needs in their life。 overall, pretty chill read。 idk when i’ll start the next book though。

This was a reread。 I first read the two first books in 2018 and I remember them having a special place in my heart but couldn’t remember them。 So it was only fitting for me to reread so I can watch the new show。。;) According to Goodreads I gave the book 4 stars back in 2018, this must mean it has grown on me cuz this is a strong 5/5!! I cried。 I laughed。 I smiled。 I was so angry at times。 This is the PERFECT summer beach read and I’m a little sad I didn’t read it at my summer house but oh well🫶🫶 This was a reread。 I first read the two first books in 2018 and I remember them having a special place in my heart but couldn’t remember them。 So it was only fitting for me to reread so I can watch the new show。。;) According to Goodreads I gave the book 4 stars back in 2018, this must mean it has grown on me cuz this is a strong 5/5!! 3。5 stars ⭐️ If you are looking for a quick, cute, Summer read this is it。 This is a YA and definitely geared towards a younger audience, 12-14。 I wanted to read this before watching the show! My main problem was Belly’s character。 She was very immature for a 16 year old。 I get being the only girl in a group of boys but she just acted like a kid most of the book。 She had some growth at the end and I’m hoping the next two she grows more。 I bought the next two books, so I will review soon。

This is my exact, and very specific, brand of book heroin and I mean that in the Twilight sense not the female hero sense! It’s got it all: summer, a shared beach house, tight knit found family, 2 brothers, coming of age, nostalgia, hope, optimism, and of course we’ve got heartache but oh wait, there’s a freaking cliff hanger!I can’t believe I missed out on these books when I was younger。 I would have been OBSESSED!

Sara Rozomiak

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I plan on reading the rest of the series!

the show is WAY better than the book and no i will not elaborate。actually on second thought yes i will:1。 the slut shaming and homophobic jokes were simply not it。 i expected more from you miss jenny han。 but then again this did come up around 2009 so i’m not too surprised2。 belly button is insufferable 🙄 i too was just as annoying and obnoxious at that age but i literally didn’t see ANY character development。 belly @ 15 acted the same way like belly @ 7。 i’m sorry but if you give me a character the show is WAY better than the book and no i will not elaborate。actually on second thought yes i will:1。 the slut shaming and homophobic jokes were simply not it。 i expected more from you miss jenny han。 but then again this did come up around 2009 so i’m not too surprised2。 belly button is insufferable 🙄 i too was just as annoying and obnoxious at that age but i literally didn’t see ANY character development。 belly @ 15 acted the same way like belly @ 7。 i’m sorry but if you give me a character like that character development is vital3。 ??? the plot ??? where is it。 i don’t can’t even say this was character driven because the characters were…uhhh 🤢 i thought there would be more substance4。 speaking of characters: conrad? jeremiah? cam? they had the personality of a soggy piece of bread。 5。 susannah and laurel were the only characters i liked。 there i said it 🤷‍♀️in conclusion i hated this book…but yes i will be reading the rest of the series anyways because i guess i love to torture myself 。。。more

It totally got me out of my reading slump, but why did it feel like a reality TV show。 I mean, it's not a bad thing, but I think I expected something different。 I think the trailer for the series steered me in the wrong direction。 It totally got me out of my reading slump, but why did it feel like a reality TV show。 I mean, it's not a bad thing, but I think I expected something different。 I think the trailer for the series steered me in the wrong direction。 。。。more
